Want to Run for Office?

King County Elections is hosting two candidate workshops for anyone interested in running for office in the County.  The workshops are free and open to the public. Come to either workshop to learn how to file for office and submit your voters’ pamphlet information. We’ll also discuss campaign sign regulations and provide basic information on campaign finance.

The workshops will be held at King County Elections, 919 SW Grady Way, Renton 98057 on Friday, April 28 from 2-4 p.m. and Saturday, April 29 from 9-11 a.m. RSVP by emailing election.operations@kingcounty.gov. Can’t make it? Tune into our Facebook livestream on April 28 at 2 p.m.

There are more than 330 local offices subject to election this year. To become a candidate, you must complete and file a Declaration of Candidacy, meet the qualifications for the office at the time of filing and be registered to vote in the district. You can conveniently file your candidacy online or come into our office. View the 2017 Candidate Manual for more information.

Candidate filing week begins May 15 and ends May 19. During that week, we’ll update the list of who has filed to run for each office. Make sure to check back with us in May!
